The timing gears of all "M" type and LE engines are marked for easy resetting . In the list above some cams have been superseded by later types:

K 17 superseded by K 17/2
K 17/7 superseded by K 17/10
M 17/2 superseded by M 17/3
M 17/4 superseded by M 17/5

When checking the timing for "M" and "K" type engines the inlet rocker or pushrod should be removed while working on the exhaust setting and vice-versa. Also note position of cams for checking valve clearances, page 13.
